About
Susan Mulala is a trailblazing 26-year-old social worker and youth advocate contesting as the United Party for National Development (UPND) Parliamentary Candidate for Mwense Central Constituency. Recognized as the UPND’s youngest adopted candidate in the national election cycle, she is launching a historic campaign to become the first female Member of Parliament in her district's history. Born in Loto Village, Mulala is running an energetic grassroots campaign aimed at challenging deep-seated cultural norms regarding age and gender in rural leadership, framing her youth as a powerful asset for modern public accountability.
Education
Susan Mulala possesses an exceptional academic and professional foundation centered on community development and public leadership. She completed her senior secondary education at Chelstone Secondary School, where she discovered her passion for leadership serving as the Head Girl. She then advanced to The University of Zambia (UNZA), where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. During her time at UNZA, she honed her administrative skills by serving as the Vice President of the Social Workers Association and working as a dedicated peer educator with the UNZA Clinic, while simultaneously interning as a child protection officer for prominent civic organizations.
Priorities
At the center of Susan Mulala's development agenda is infrastructure transformation, public health equity, and rural economic empowerment. Drawing from her professional background in social welfare, her immediate priorities include paving critical road networks, expanding safe water access pipelines, and establishing well-equipped healthcare facilities closer to local neighborhoods. She strongly advocates for youth-friendly health services, reproductive health education, and the transparent allocation of civic resources to create jobs for local teachers, nurses, and agricultural professionals. Additionally, she seeks to roll out targeted financial literacy and empowerment grants to support local women marketeers and small-scale farmers
