About
Kutemba Kayombo is a Zambian youth political candidate contesting local government elections as an aspiring Councillor for Myooye Ward in the Nangoma Constituency. Initially aligned with the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), she made headlines by taking a highly principled stance against character assassination. She has publicly demanded clean, issue-based campaigns from politicians, declaring that politics must be strictly about community service rather than personal insults.
Priorities
Kayombo says she will work closely with residents and ensure their challenges are effectively presented to relevant authorities. She has identified infrastructure development as a priority, with plans to push for the construction of markets, water projects, sanitation facilities, clinics, and housing for civil servants. She has also pledged to upgrade schools, which currently only offer classes up to Grade 6. Kayombo notes that Gender-Based Violence remains a major concern and says she will ensure cases are addressed while promoting solutions that protect men, women, youths, and persons with disabilities. She has also pledged to revive sensitisation programmes on alcohol and drug abuse in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, Kayombo says while the free education policy is commendable, there is need to improve the quality of education by addressing overcrowding in classrooms. She has further committed to promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all community activities. Kayombo says these priorities are aimed at improving livelihoods in Myooye Ward.
