Dickson Young Mutambo, popularly known as "The Governor," is a prominent Zambian student politician, lawyer, and civic leader. He rose to national prominence after being elected President of the University of Zambia Students' Union (UNZASU) for the 2024/2025 academic term. In this role, he became a leading voice for student welfare and youth empowerment, frequently collaborating with government bodies to advocate for institutional reforms and increased youth representation in governance. Building on his background in student politics and law, Mutambo transitioned into mainstream national politics as an Independent candidate for Mayor of Kitwe. His civic agenda focuses heavily on driving economic development, creating jobs, and improving local community welfare within the Copperbelt region.
